Somebody’s excuse

Hers is a story and a symbol so pervasive that we’ve come to accept it as truth. She’s to blame. It’s her fault. If only she hadn’t. (What was she wearing?)

But stories like this are crafted by those with control of the pen. Who benefited by placing the blame on her shoulders, and who became blameless?
